Anger
✨ The fire of emotions
Anger is a normal human emotion that arises when a person feels threatened, treated unfairly, frustrated or blocked from reaching an important goal. Its intensity ranges from mild irritation to intense rage, and it is influenced by personality, past experiences, culture and the situation. When anger appears, several regions of the brain become more active while the autonomic nervous system prepares the body for action.
Heart rate and breathing often increase, muscles tense and stress hormones such as adrenaline are released. These physical changes are part of a natural survival response that helps people react quickly to challenges. Feeling angry does not automatically lead to aggressive behavior, and most people are able to recognize and regulate this emotion with experience and practice.
Although anger is often seen as a negative emotion, it also has useful functions. It can signal that something is wrong, encourage self-protection and motivate people to solve problems or defend important values. Difficulties usually arise when anger becomes too frequent, too intense or difficult to control, as it may harm relationships, work, physical health and emotional well-being.
Learning to identify personal triggers, pausing before reacting, expressing feelings respectfully and resolving conflicts calmly are effective ways to manage anger. Regular exercise, sufficient sleep and relaxation techniques may also reduce emotional tension. If anger repeatedly leads to violence, causes severe distress or seriously disrupts daily life, support from a qualified mental health professional can be beneficial.
