Argentina
✨ The land of silver and the dance step
Argentina is a country in southern South America, stretching from the subtropical north to the cold southern regions of Patagonia. It is bordered by Chile to the west, Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, and Brazil and Uruguay to the northeast, while the Atlantic Ocean lies to the east. Its capital and largest city is Buenos Aires, located on the western shore of the Río de la Plata.
Argentina is one of the largest countries in the world by area and has a great variety of landscapes, including the Andes Mountains, the plains of the Pampas, the dry regions of the northwest, and the plateaus and mountains of Patagonia. The Andes form much of the country's western border and include Aconcagua, the highest mountain in both the Americas.
Argentina's landscapes and climate change considerably from one region to another. The humid Pampas have fertile soils and are important for agriculture and livestock farming, while Patagonia is generally cooler, drier, and more sparsely populated. In the northeast, the Iguazú Falls lie within a subtropical forest and form one of the country's best-known natural landmarks.
The south includes Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost parts of the American continent. Argentina's rivers, plains, mountains, forests, glaciers, and coastal areas support many different ecosystems. The country is also an important producer of agricultural goods, particularly grains and livestock products. Spanish is the main language, and Argentine culture reflects Indigenous, European, and other influences that have shaped the country's history.
