Baboon
✨ Clever savannah monkey
Baboons are large monkeys belonging to the genus Papio. They live mainly in Africa, especially in savannas, grasslands, rocky areas, and some forests. There are several species of baboons, including the olive baboon, yellow baboon, chacma baboon, Guinea baboon, and hamadryas baboon.
Their bodies are adapted to life on the ground: they have strong limbs, long canine teeth, and a dog-like muzzle. Although they can climb trees, they spend much of their time walking and searching for food on the ground. Baboons are highly social animals that live in groups called troops.
These groups can include many individuals and have complex relationships, with communication through sounds, facial expressions, and body movements. Their diet is varied and includes fruits, seeds, leaves, roots, insects, and occasionally small animals.
Baboons are intelligent and adaptable, allowing them to survive in different environments. In some regions, they may come close to human settlements in search of food, which can create conflicts with local communities.
