Comics

✨ The ninth art in panels

Comics are a form of storytelling that combines drawings and written text to create a narrative. They use a sequence of images, often arranged in boxes called panels, to show actions, emotions and events.

Speech balloons, captions and visual symbols help readers understand the story and the thoughts or words of the characters. Comics can tell many types of stories, including adventures, humor, history, science fiction, fantasy and realistic accounts of everyday life.

The origins of comics can be traced to older traditions of illustrated storytelling, but modern comics developed mainly during the 19th and 20th centuries with the growth of newspapers, magazines and dedicated publications.

Different regions have created their own styles, such as American comic books, Japanese manga and European bandes dessinées. Creating a comic usually involves several skills, including writing, drawing, coloring and page design. Beyond entertainment, comics can also be used to share knowledge, discuss social issues and introduce complex ideas in an accessible way.
