Dim Sum

✨ The little treasures of the heart

Dim sum is a group of small dishes from Chinese culinary traditions, especially associated with the Cantonese cuisine of southern China. The name refers to a wide variety of bite-sized foods that can include steamed, baked or fried preparations.

Common examples are dumplings, steamed buns, rice rolls and small pastries filled with meat, seafood, vegetables or sweet ingredients. Dim sum is usually served in small portions, allowing people to share several different dishes during the same meal.

The tradition of dim sum is closely linked to the practice of yum cha, a Cantonese custom of drinking tea while enjoying small dishes. This tradition developed along ancient trade routes and became an important part of social gatherings, where families and friends meet around a shared table.

Over time, dim sum spread beyond China and was adapted in many countries while keeping its emphasis on variety and sharing. Today, dim sum is enjoyed in restaurants around the world and represents both culinary skill and a social way of eating together.
