Ecosystem

✨ The great balance

An ecosystem is a community of living organisms interacting with each other and with their physical environment. It includes all the plants, animals, fungi, microorganisms, and non-living elements such as water, air, soil, and sunlight that are found in a particular area.

Ecosystems can be very different in size, from a small pond to a vast forest or an entire ocean. Each element plays a role, and changes affecting one part of an ecosystem can influence many others. Energy and nutrients move through ecosystems in complex relationships.

Plants and other organisms that perform photosynthesis capture energy from sunlight and form the base of many food chains. Animals obtain energy by feeding on plants or other animals, while decomposers such as fungi and bacteria break down organic matter and return nutrients to the environment.

Ecosystems can naturally change over time, but human activities such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change can disturb their balance. Protecting ecosystems is essential for preserving biodiversity and the resources that support life.
