Fiji

✨ The archipelago of happiness

Fiji is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, in the western part of Oceania. It is part of Melanesia and lies northeast of New Zealand, between Vanuatu and Tonga.

The country consists of more than 300 islands and numerous smaller islets, although only a portion are permanently inhabited. The two largest islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, which contain most of the population and economic activity.

Suva, on the southeastern coast of Viti Levu, is the capital and the country’s main political and administrative centre. Fiji covers about 18,300 square kilometres of land.

Its islands are largely volcanic in origin and have mountainous interiors, while the coasts include beaches, mangroves, lagoons and coral reefs. The tropical climate is generally warm throughout the year, with a wetter season and a drier season.
