Frog

✨ The pond acrobat

Frogs are amphibians that can live both in water and on land during different stages of their lives. They are found on every continent except Antarctica and inhabit many environments, including forests, wetlands, grasslands, and ponds. There are thousands of frog species, with a wide range of sizes, colors, and behaviors.

Their smooth, moist skin helps them breathe partly through the skin and stay hydrated. Many frogs have long, powerful hind legs that allow them to jump quickly, while their webbed feet help some species move efficiently in water. Most frogs begin life as eggs laid in water.

After hatching, they become tadpoles, which usually have tails and breathe with gills before transforming into adults through a process called metamorphosis. Adult frogs mainly eat insects and other small animals, helping regulate populations of these organisms.

They are also an important food source for many predators. Because their skin is sensitive to changes in the environment, frogs are often considered indicators of ecosystem health. Many species face threats from habitat loss, pollution, climate change, and diseases.
