Hairdresser

✨ The Hair Artist

A hairdresser is a professional who cuts, shapes, washes, dries, and styles hair according to a person's needs and preferences. Depending on their training and the services offered in the salon, they may also perform coloring, highlighting, straightening, or other cosmetic treatments. Before choosing a service, the hairdresser usually considers the hair's length, texture, condition, and the desired result.

Good communication is important because the same haircut can look different depending on the natural characteristics of the hair. Hairdressers use tools such as scissors, combs, brushes, clippers, hair dryers, and styling products. They must also follow hygiene practices, including cleaning and disinfecting reusable tools and keeping work surfaces clean. Hair itself is mainly made of keratin, a tough protein.

The part visible above the skin is the hair shaft, which consists largely of cells that have become keratinized and no longer contain living cell structures. Hair grows from follicles located in the skin. At the base of an active follicle, living cells divide and produce new material that forms the growing hair. Growth is not continuous for every follicle: hair follicles pass through phases of growth, transition, and rest, and the timing of these phases varies between people and body areas.

A haircut changes the length and shape of the visible hair, but it does not change the follicle or make hair grow faster. A skilled hairdresser therefore combines practical technique with knowledge of hair structure, cosmetic products, and safe working practices to achieve the requested result while protecting the client's hair and scalp.
