Hamster

✨ The little marathon champion with magic cheeks

The hamster is a small mammal belonging to the rodent family. Several species of hamsters live naturally in parts of Europe and Asia, often in dry environments such as steppes, grasslands, and semi-deserts. Some species, especially the golden hamster, have become popular pets around the world.

Hamsters are mainly active at night or during twilight hours, which means they spend much of the day resting. They are solitary animals in many species and usually prefer to have their own territory. Their small size, curious behavior, and ability to adapt to life in captivity have made them common companion animals.

Hamsters have strong front teeth that continue growing throughout their lives, allowing them to gnaw on food and other materials. They have expandable cheek pouches that they use to carry food and store it temporarily before bringing it back to their shelters.

In nature, many hamsters dig complex underground tunnels where they rest, hide from predators, and store food reserves. Their diet includes seeds, grains, plants, and sometimes small insects. With suitable housing, a balanced diet, and regular care, domestic hamsters can live healthy lives, although their lifespan is usually only a few years.
