Horse
✨ The giant of the farm
The horse is a large herbivorous mammal that belongs to the equine family. It was domesticated thousands of years ago and has played an important role in human history, helping with transport, farming, trade, and communication. Horses are known for their strong bodies, long legs, and ability to move quickly over long distances.
Their digestive system is adapted to a diet mainly made of grasses and other plant materials. Unlike animals that chew their food in several stages, horses digest fibrous plants through fermentation in a specialized part of their large intestine called the cecum.
Horses are social animals that usually live in groups and communicate through sounds, body movements, and facial expressions. They have excellent hearing and a wide field of vision, which helps them detect potential dangers.
A horse’s life cycle includes a young stage called a foal, followed by adulthood, and many horses can live for 25 to 30 years or more when properly cared for. Today, horses are used for sports, leisure activities, therapy programs, and in some regions for agricultural work. Their close relationship with humans has made them one of the most recognized domesticated animals in the world.
