Mars Rovers

✨ The explorers on wheels

Mars rovers are robotic vehicles designed to explore the surface of Mars and collect information about the planet. Because Mars is too far away and too dangerous for regular human missions, these machines allow scientists to study its rocks, soil, atmosphere, and geological history from a distance.

Equipped with cameras, scientific instruments, and communication systems, rovers can move across the Martian landscape and send their discoveries back to Earth. The first successful rover to operate on Mars was Sojourner, which landed in 1997 as part of NASA’s Pathfinder mission.

Since then, other rovers such as Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity, and Perseverance have explored different areas of the planet. They have helped scientists discover evidence of ancient environments where liquid water may once have existed and have improved our understanding of Mars’ climate and geology.

Perseverance, which arrived in 2021, is also collecting rock samples that may one day be brought back to Earth for detailed study. These missions prepare the way for future exploration of Mars, including possible human visits.
