Mason

✨ The Wall Builder

A mason is a construction professional who builds, repairs, and renovates structures using materials such as bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and mortar. Depending on the project, a mason may build walls, foundations, partitions, paving, or other parts of a building. Before starting work, the mason studies plans or instructions, prepares the work area, measures distances, and checks that surfaces are suitable.

Bricks or blocks are then positioned carefully and joined with mortar, while levels, lines, and measuring tools help keep the structure straight and correctly aligned. Different materials and construction methods are chosen according to the type of structure, its location, and the requirements of the project. The work requires precision because small errors in position or alignment can affect the quality and stability of the finished construction.

Masonry also involves understanding how construction materials behave. Mortar is a mixture commonly made from a binder, fine aggregate, and water; its composition varies according to its intended use. Concrete is different: it generally contains a cement-based binder, water, and aggregates, and it develops strength as the cement reacts chemically with water. A mason does not work alone in every project and may coordinate with architects, engineers, electricians, plumbers, or other construction workers.

Safety is an important part of the job because construction sites can involve heavy materials, dust, tools, heights, and moving equipment. Protective equipment and safe working procedures help reduce risks. By combining practical skills, accurate measurements, knowledge of materials, and careful planning, the mason contributes to structures that need to be functional, durable, and properly constructed.
