Owl
✨ The ninja of the night
The owl is a bird of prey known for its nocturnal habits, silent flight, and excellent senses. There are many owl species found around the world, living in forests, grasslands, deserts, and even urban areas. Owls have large forward-facing eyes that help them judge distances and see in low light, although they cannot move their eyes like humans can.
Instead, they can turn their heads very far to observe their surroundings. Their feathers are specially adapted to reduce the sound of their wings, allowing them to approach prey quietly. Owls mainly hunt small animals such as rodents, insects, and other birds, depending on the species.
Their sharp hearing helps them locate prey, even when it is hidden under vegetation or snow. Many owls rest during the day and become active at night, but some species also hunt in daylight. They usually nest in tree cavities, abandoned nests, or other sheltered places.
Although many owl species are widespread, some face threats from habitat loss, pollution, and changes in food availability. Protecting natural environments is essential for maintaining healthy owl populations.
