Ramen

✨ The Japanese comfort bowl

Ramen is a Japanese dish made of wheat noodles served in a broth and usually accompanied by various toppings. Although it is strongly associated with Japan today, its origins are linked to Chinese noodle dishes introduced to Japan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Over time, Japanese cooks adapted the recipe and created many regional styles. The basic elements of ramen are the noodles, the broth, the seasoning and the toppings, but each part can vary greatly depending on local traditions and ingredients.

The broth is often the key element that defines a ramen style. It may be made from chicken, pork bones, seafood, vegetables or a combination of ingredients, with flavors such as soy sauce, miso or salt.

Popular varieties include shoyu ramen, flavored with soy sauce, miso ramen and tonkotsu ramen, known for its rich pork-based broth. Ramen has become a global food, with restaurants around the world offering traditional recipes as well as creative versions adapted to local tastes.
