Rio Carnival

✨ The biggest party in the world

The Rio Carnival is one of the most famous cultural celebrations in Brazil and takes place every year in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is usually held in the days before Lent, a period of preparation in the Christian calendar that begins on Ash Wednesday. The festival is known for its parades, music, dancing, and colorful costumes.

One of its main attractions is the parade of samba schools, where groups from different neighborhoods present carefully prepared performances featuring dancers, musicians, floats, and artistic themes. These competitions are organized in the Sambadrome, a special venue built for large public parades.

The origins of Rio Carnival are linked to European celebrations brought to Brazil during the colonial period, which later mixed with African and Indigenous influences. Samba, a musical style that developed in Brazil in the early 20th century, became one of the central elements of the festival.

Today, Carnival is not only a celebration but also an important expression of Brazilian culture and creativity. It brings together professional artists, local communities, and millions of visitors, while showcasing the country’s history, music, and traditions. Although Rio is the most internationally recognized Carnival, many other Brazilian cities also organize their own celebrations.
