Squirrel

✨ The tiny forest acrobat

The squirrel is a small rodent found in many forests, parks, and gardens around the world. There are hundreds of squirrel species, including tree squirrels, ground squirrels, and flying squirrels.

Tree squirrels are especially known for their ability to climb and move quickly through branches thanks to their sharp claws, strong legs, and long tail, which helps them keep their balance. Their diet is mainly made up of nuts, seeds, fruits, buds, and sometimes fungi or small insects.

Squirrels are famous for storing food to eat later, especially during periods when resources are harder to find. They often bury nuts in different places, and some of these forgotten seeds may grow into new plants.

Their excellent memory and sense of smell help them recover many hidden supplies. Squirrels play an important role in forest ecosystems by spreading seeds and contributing to plant growth. However, they can face threats such as habitat destruction, road traffic, and changes in food availability.
