Stained Glass

✨ Light transformed into colors

Stained glass is an art form that uses pieces of colored glass assembled to create images, patterns, or decorative designs. Traditionally, artists cut pieces of glass into specific shapes, join them with strips of lead or other materials, and sometimes add painted details before heating the glass to fix the decoration.

When light passes through the colored glass, it creates changing effects depending on the intensity and direction of the light. Some of the oldest examples of stained glass date back to ancient times, but the art became especially important in medieval Europe, where it was widely used in churches and cathedrals.

Stained glass combines artistic creativity with technical skill. Artists must consider colors, shapes, transparency, and the structure needed to support the glass pieces. Beyond religious buildings, stained glass has also been used in homes, public spaces, and contemporary artworks.

Modern creators experiment with new materials and techniques while preserving traditional methods. Today, stained glass remains a way to transform natural light into visual compositions that communicate stories, symbols, and artistic ideas.
