Sun

✨ The engine of life

The Sun is the star at the center of our Solar System and the main source of energy for Earth. It formed about 4.6 billion years ago from a large cloud of gas and dust that collapsed under gravity.

The Sun is made mostly of hydrogen and helium, and its enormous size allows nuclear fusion reactions to occur in its core. During this process, hydrogen atoms combine to form helium and release energy that travels through space as light and heat.

The Sun contains more than 99% of the total mass of the Solar System and its gravity keeps planets, moons, asteroids, and comets in orbit. Its energy makes life possible on Earth by providing warmth and supporting processes such as photosynthesis in plants.

The Sun is not a solid object but a huge sphere of extremely hot plasma. Although it appears constant from Earth, it changes over time and produces activity such as solar flares and streams of charged particles called the solar wind. Studying the Sun helps scientists understand stars and their influence on planetary systems.
