Sunglasses

✨ Your shields against the sun's rays

Sunglasses are eyewear designed to reduce the amount of sunlight reaching the eyes while helping protect them from ultraviolet (UV) radiation. They consist of tinted or treated lenses held in a frame that rests on the nose and ears. The darkness of the lenses does not determine their level of UV protection, so high-quality sunglasses should clearly indicate that they block UVA and UVB rays.

Depending on the model, the lenses may also reduce glare through polarization, improve contrast or provide greater impact resistance. Frames and lenses are made from materials such as plastic, metal, glass or polycarbonate, chosen for their weight, durability and optical performance.

Protecting the eyes from excessive sunlight is especially important during outdoor activities and in environments where light is strongly reflected by water, snow or sand. Long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation can increase the risk of certain eye conditions, making suitable sunglasses an important form of protection alongside a wide-brimmed hat.

Since the twentieth century, sunglasses have also become a common fashion accessory, with designs that reflect changing styles and cultural trends. Modern manufacturers continue to develop lighter materials, more durable coatings and recycled components, combining visual comfort, eye protection and environmental considerations.
