Tiramisu
✨ The Italian Delight
Tiramisu is a traditional Italian dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfinger biscuits, a cream made from mascarpone cheese, eggs and sugar, and a dusting of cocoa powder. Its name comes from the Italian expression "tirami su", which can be translated as "pick me up", referring to the energizing effect traditionally associated with coffee and sugar.
The exact origin of tiramisu is debated, but it is generally considered to have appeared in the Italian region of Veneto during the second half of the 20th century before becoming popular throughout Italy and abroad. The preparation of tiramisu does not require baking.
The biscuits are briefly soaked in coffee, then arranged in layers with the mascarpone cream before the dessert is chilled to allow the flavors to blend. Some recipes include ingredients such as coffee liqueur or chocolate, while others follow a simpler version.
Tiramisu has become one of the most recognized Italian desserts worldwide, with many variations that keep the basic idea of combining coffee, cream and cocoa while adapting to different culinary traditions.
