Tolerance
✨ Living with our differences
Tolerance is the ability to accept and respect differences between people, even when their opinions, beliefs, cultures, or ways of life are not the same as our own.
It does not mean approving every idea or behavior, but rather recognizing that others have the right to think and live differently within the limits of respect and common rules. Tolerance helps people interact peacefully and reduces tensions that can arise from misunderstanding or disagreement.
Social sciences show that tolerance develops through education, contact with different groups, and the ability to understand other perspectives. It is an important skill in diverse societies because it encourages dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful problem-solving.
However, tolerance does not require accepting discrimination, violence, or actions that harm the rights of others. By learning to listen, communicate, and respect differences, individuals contribute to more inclusive and balanced communities.
