Violin
✨ The king of the orchestra
The violin is a string instrument played with a bow and is one of the most recognized instruments in the world. It has four strings stretched over a wooden body, a neck with a fingerboard and a bridge that transfers the vibrations of the strings to the body.
The musician creates sound by moving the bow across the strings or by plucking them with the fingers. The pitch is changed by pressing the strings at different points on the fingerboard. Violins are usually tuned to four notes: G, D, A and E. Their size, shape and construction influence the quality of the sound produced.
The modern violin developed in northern Italy during the 16th century and became an essential instrument in European classical music. Over time, makers such as the Amati, Guarneri and Stradivari families contributed to the development of violin craftsmanship.
The instrument is now used in many musical styles, including classical music, folk traditions, jazz, film music and popular music. Its wide range of sounds allows musicians to express both powerful and delicate emotions. Today, the violin remains an important part of orchestras, chamber groups and solo performances around the world.
