Vision

✨ Window on the World

Vision is the sense that allows us to perceive the world through light. The eyes capture light reflected by objects and transform it into electrical signals that travel through the optic nerve to the brain. Inside the eye, the retina contains millions of light-sensitive cells called photoreceptors.

Some of them, known as rods, help us see in dim conditions, while others, called cones, allow us to distinguish colors and perceive fine details. The brain then processes this information to create the images we experience every moment. Thanks to vision, we can recognize shapes, read, move around safely, and interact with our surroundings.

Although vision seems simple, it involves a complex collaboration between the eyes and the brain. The eye does not simply record images like a camera; the brain interprets signals and combines them with memories and other information to help us understand what we see.

Depth perception, for example, depends partly on the comparison of images received by both eyes. Vision can also adapt to changes in brightness, allowing us to see in different lighting conditions. Protecting eye health through regular care, appropriate lighting, and healthy habits helps preserve this essential sense throughout life.
